With Coronavirus (COVID-19) spreading throughout the country, Reynolds Volunteer Fire Department must ensure that our personnel are protected and that we follow the proper policy and procedures to maintain and prevent the spread of COVID-19 within the Reynolds Volunteer Fire Department facility.
The goal of this plan is to protect our members and to ensure their health and safety, as well as the health and safety of their families. All safety measures possible are being taken to ensure the safety of our personnel and the continuity of operations.
Effective Monday, March 16, Reynolds Volunteer Fire Department will be closed to ALL NON- EMERGENCY Visitors amid the growing concerns of COVID-19, only essential Reynolds Volunteer Fire Department Personnel will be allowed access to our station.
Station tours, child passenger safety education and all other NON-EMERGENCY visits involving entering our stations will be discontinued until further notice.
- If you have an emergency and are driving to our stations, we ask that you call 9-1-1 on the way and we will meet you outside the station.
- If you call 9-1-1 please let the dispatcher know if you or anyone in your household has flu like symptoms.
- Burning Permits will only be issued by the online system provided by the NCFS, until further notice.
We apologize for any inconvenience but we must take strict preventative measures to protect our emergency personnel. If we have one person exposed to this virus, it has the potential to affect an entire shift. If an entire shift were exposed, they would need to be quarantined for 14 days. We cannot afford to have multiple personnel quarantined for 14 days. This would drastically affect our department and our community response.
We are following this procedure as most of Buncombe County Government has closed their buildings to non-essential personnel to prevent exposures to our personnel so that we can continue to provide proper response to every emergency that occurs in our district.
THIS TEMPORARY PROCEDURE IS ONLY FOR VISITORS TO OUR STATIONS.
